PlayStation Plus free games for July 2022 announced

PlayStation Plus has just launched its revamped service, offering three tiers of subscription that, at its highest tier, contains around 800 games across PS5 and PS4, emulated classic games and streaming options.
The base tier, Essential, is staying exactly as it is. Same price, same online multiplayer access, and same freebies every month to add to your account that you can access as long as you’ve got an active subscription. That’s what we’ll continue to focus on every month.
Leading the pack this month is a former PlayStation mascot and exclusive character, with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Serving as a sequel to the iconic original trilogy, It’s About Time goes back to the classic platforming mechanics and expands upon them with new moves, power-ups, characters and more.

Be warned though, that the difficulty starts where the later levels in the old games left off, and only goes up from there, especially if you’re going for full completion and that Platinum trophy. You may tear your hair out, but at least having both PS4 and PS5 versions free means you can import your last-gen save into the current-gen version and get double the trophies.
The next game, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, is a PS4 title from Until Dawn and The Quarry developers Supermassive Games. Similarly to both of those games, it’s a horror title with multiple characters who may or may not survive based on your choices, with a cast of familiar faces (X-Men‘s Shawn Ashmore is the lead here).
There’s modes that let you play with a friend online, or share the decisions with up to five people offline, which we are sure won’t ruin any friendships at all.
Finally, we’ve got Arcadegeddon, a co-op multiplayer shooter where you can join your friends online and play a host of mini-games in between all the shooting parts. Like Crash 4, both PS5 and PS4 versions are free.
All three games will be available to claim from July 5. Once claimed, you can play them as long as you have an active Plus subscription, even if you let it lapse and then re-subscribe.
