Edona Thaqi, a walk-on for the Fordham Women’s Basketball group, believed her times of playing basketball would close when Fordham’s year wrapped up in March.

Very little did the Stamford resident and Westhill graduate know, the most meaningful basketball she would ever participate in was however ahead of her.

During the winter, reps from Kosovo started reaching out to Thaqi about the possibility of taking part in on the freshly fashioned Kosovo Women’s Countrywide Workforce.

Thaqi’s parents Mete and Hatman, immigrated to Stamford from Kosovo (then Yugoslavia), speaking no English but looking for a new home to start out their family members absent from their homeland which was in turmoil and on the precipice of war.
